Indigo dyeing is a great technique for transforming old materials, clothing, objects and paper. The colour is strongest on natural materials such as linen, cotton and silk, you can really explore different shades of blue and pattern during the dye process. Shibori is the Japanese word for resist dyeing of fabric, in the workshop you will play around with different shibori techniques, creating patterned fabrics using; stitch, twist, fold, clamp, pole, pleat, bind, and scrunch techniques. Each indigo dyed sample will be unique, with freedom to really explore your own textile work and try your own ideas. Towards the end of the session we will indigo dye your final pieces such as an item of clothing brought from home or the charity shop.
